Before BGT, he had scored only 91 runs in six innings against New Zealand and had only 42 runs in the Bangladesh series. Overall, his run score in the last 15 innings is only 164 and his average is less than 11. If any other batsman had been in this form, he would have been dropped from the team. Cricket expert Mark Waugh clearly said that if he had been a selector, he would have taken the decision to drop Rohit from the team.
Possibility of talks with Rohit and Gambhir
According to the report of Cricbuzz, talks can be held with captain Rohit Sharma and coach Gautam Gambhir after this series. However, it is difficult to take any major decision during the series, because the Chief Selector is currently in Australia. If Rohit wants, he can keep himself out of the Sydney Test, but the possibility of this is less. Rohit had said in the press conference after the fourth Test that he is not taking retirement yet and he will continue to captain the team.

Questions are also being raised on Gautam Gambhir’s coaching.
