Delhi: Former Australian captain Michael Clarke believes that Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy should bat at number 6 in the fifth Test to be held in Sydney. The special thing is that Reddy is the third highest run scorer in this series so far. He has scored 294 runs in four Tests (7 innings), his average is 49, which also includes one century.
Nitish Reddy is a genius
Reddy scored the first century of his Test career on the third day of the fourth Test played in Melbourne. He played a brilliant inning of 114 runs, which included 11 fours and 1 six in 189 balls. After this inning, Michael Clarke praised him profusely and called him ‘genius’.
Clarke said in ‘Beyond 23 Cricket Podcast’, “Reddy, who is batting at number eight at the moment, is a genius. I think he should bat at least at number six, if not seventh. He is India’s highest run-scorer batsman. He is only 21 years old and is showing incredible performance. He has been underestimated in this entire series. But, his talent makes him capable of playing at number 6. This will be a great option for India.”
The former Australian captain further said, “Reddy has impressed everyone. He did not show fear of any Australian bowler. Showed patience when needed and played a good partnership with the tailenders. He has kept his intentions clear. He is excellent in batting, bowling and fielding.
