Delhi: There may be some big changes in the Indian Test cricket team in the coming time. Especially regarding the vice-captain of the team, there is a discussion going on as to who should be given this responsibility. BCCI is considering this issue after the recent defeat against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Along with this, the new captain and vice-captain of the Indian team is also being discussed.

Bumrah’s leadership potential

At present it is believed that Jasprit Bumrah can be made the next captain of the Test team. Bumrah has captained the Indian team in three Test matches so far, out of which two matches have been lost and one won. However, Bumrah is currently injured, and it is believed that he will not be a part of the team in the Champions Trophy also. BCCI’s plan is to make a player who remains fit and plays Test matches continuously for India, as vice-captain under the leadership of Bumrah.

Consideration on the names of Pant and Jaiswal

According to the plan of BCCI Selection Committee, the names of Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal are at the forefront for the vice-captaincy. Pant is now 27 years old and after his return to the team, he is considered a major contender to become the vice-captain after participating in test matches continuously. At the same time, Jaiswal’s Test career is still in the beginning, but he is the only player from India who has played Test cricket continuously in the last three years.

Preparation for the next test series

Team India will now play a five-Test series against England in June. During this time, captaincy can be handed over to Bumrah. However, what will be the future of Rohit Sharma in this series, it is not yet clear.
