Recently, before the start of IPL 2025, star Indian wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been appointed the captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Pant’s appointment as captain was announced by LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka on a show on Star Sports.

So after Pant became the captain of Lucknow, another IPL franchise was seen congratulating Rishabh Pant. However, it was the same franchise that Pant was seen making fun of in this show and he said something which came under the radar of the fans.

Pant made fun of Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Let us tell you that when it was announced that Pant would be made the captain in this Star Sports show, Pant said that he was afraid that Punjab Kings might buy him. While talking to Goenka in this show, Pant said – I had only one tension from within and that was Punjab. He had the biggest purse, Rs 112 crore.

Pant further said- But when Punjab bought Shreyas Iyer, then I felt that I can go to Lucknow Super Giants. Anything can happen in an auction, so I thought it better to just wait and pray.

From this statement given by Pant, you can guess that he did not want to join Punjab Kings team in IPL. However, even after this statement given by Pant regarding PBKS, the franchise has shown a big heart and congratulated the cricketer.

After becoming the captain of LSG, Punjab posted a photo of Pant and Shreyas Iyer in an Indian jersey and wrote in the caption – Fearless young blood, ready to roar. Congratulations, Rishabh, on being appointed captain of Lucknow Super Giants! best wishes to all of you
