Delhi: Indian team’s veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami is all set to return to international cricket in the five-match T20 series against England. The first match of the series will be played on 22 January i.e. Wednesday at Eden Garden, Kolkata. Before this important match, BCCI shared a video of Shami on social media, in which he is seen flying a kite.
The video starts with kite and manja. Shami says in the video, “It has been a long time since I flew a kite. Haven’t flown a kite for about 15 years. Didn’t get a chance to do this after leaving home. After that only the ball remained in hand.”
In the video, Shami also told that he is expert in flying kites. Comparing kite and cricket, he said, “The balance of a kite is also like cricket life. If you are set at the crease, you will score runs. Even in bowling, wickets are taken only when there is rhythm. There is a flow in everything.”
Discussing the balance of bowling and kite, Shami said, “Your body, fitness, skill and mindset are very important for bowling. Similarly, the kite should also have balance. Be it a manja, a ball or driving a car – if you are strong and have faith in yourself, you can do any work with confidence.”
Shami’s reaction on return
Regarding his return to international cricket, Shami said, “Waited for the last one year and worked hard. Even while running, I was afraid of what would happen next. It is very difficult for any player to come out of injury, go to NCA for rehab and then make a comeback. But I think coming back from injury makes you stronger than before because you have to repeat things over and over and become mentally stronger.”
