Delhi: India registered a stunning win by defeating England 4–1 in the domestic T20 series. The series concluded by a big margin in Mumbai, where the hosts won by 150 runs. However, in the fourth T20 match, there was a controversy over the “Convention Substitute”. The matter was accused by former ICC match referee Chris Broad of “bias and corruption” on the ICC, while former India captain Sunil Gavaskar criticized the team management.
Chris Broad wrote on social media, “Independent match officials were brought to stop such situations! Then why is ICC returning to old -time bias and corruption? ”

‘Dubey did not have concentration’
Shivam Dubey had a ball at the helmet in the last over of the Indian innings. However, he lost his wicket on the next ball and did not land for fielding. After this, Harshit Rana was launched as a concentration substitute, but this decision was taken in the 10th over of the match, which increased the controversy.
Sunil Gavaskar wrote in his column, “In the match played in Pune, Dubey had a ball at the helmet, but despite this he batted till the end. This clearly shows that they had no conversion. In such a situation, it was not right to give a contingent substance. If they had any muscle stretch problems, they could only take a substitute for fielding, but bowling would not be allowed. ”
Gavaskar further said, “There is no similarity between Dubey and Rana. The level and height of both of them may be the same, but there is no similarity in other aspects of the game. England has every right to question this matter. The Indian team is very strong and does not have to tarnish its victory with such things. “
