SA vs AFG: South Africa scored 315 runs due to Riclton’s century, 316 runs challenge in front of Afghanistan

Delhi: Today, the African team decided to bat first in the match played between Afghanistan vs South Africa in the 2025 Champions Trophy. South Africa scored 315 runs for 6 wickets in 50 overs, of which Ryan Ricelton’s brilliant century was the most special.

South Africa’s innings

South Africa’s innings did not start well. Tony Di Jorgy (11) was dismissed early, while captain Temba Bavuma (58) and Ryan Ricelton (103) shared a great partnership and raised the team from the crisis. Ricelton not only scored runs with shots, but also strengthened the team with his patient batting. This century of Ricelton was the first ODI century of his career.

52 runs in 36 balls

On the other hand, Rasi Van Der Dusen (52) and David Miller (14) also succeeded in making good contribution. However, Miller was dismissed by Fazalhak Farooqui. Marco Jansen returned to the pavilion without scoring runs and Vian Mulder (12) remained at the crease till the end, but Aiden Markram scored 52 runs in a brilliant 36 balls which included 6 fours and 1 six.

Afghanistan bowlers role

The Afghanistan bowlers bowled well, but the partnership of Recllet and Bavuma drove the match away from Afghanistan’s hands. Fazalhak Farooqui dismissed Miller, while Mohammad Nabi sent Rasi Van Der Dusse and Temba Bavuma to the pavilion. Noor Ahmed gave a big blow to South Africa by dismissing Ricelton, while Azmatullah Umarzai took the wicket of Marco Jansen.
