Delhi: There is a possibility of three more matches between India and Pakistan this year. Asia Cup will be held in September under the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) scheme. This time this tournament will be played in T20 format and there will be a total of 19 matches. It is expected to be held between the second and fourth week of September.
According to Cricbuzz report, the tournament was originally assigned to India, but in view of the relations between India and Pakistan, the ACC has decided to organize it at a neutral place. Although the final decision regarding Venue has not been taken yet, it is likely that it will be held in Sri Lanka or UAE. However, officially BCCI will be the host of this tournament.
According to the Cricbuzz report, the ACC has taken an important decision that the tournament will be held in a neutral country whenever the BCCI or PCB turn comes. This step has been taken to avoid the situation of India and Pakistan teams not traveling in each other’s country. Due to this dispute, the Champions Trophy 2025 is also being organized in the hybrid model.
The Indian team has been allowed to play in Dubai in the hybrid model for this tournament. In view of this, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has demanded a similar arrangement for the next year’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be hosted by BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
These 8 teams will take part
Apart from India and Pakistan, teams from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman and Hong Kong will participate in this tournament. However, Nepal will not be part of the tournament this time, as it has failed to make it to the qualifying round.
