Delhi: It has suffered another major setback after the ICC Champions Trophy was out of Pakistan’s tournament before 2025. India has made a loss of crores of rupees to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) by spraying salt on the wounds of defeat. After about 25 years, Pakistan got a chance to host an ICC tournament, but the team was out in the league stage itself.
Apart from this, India did not play a single match in Pakistan, due to which the advertisement also got out of hand.
Pakistan hoped that hosting the Champions Trophy would make it a huge profit, but India’s decision not to play in Pakistan made a big impact on its earnings. The Indian team played all their four matches in Dubai, causing a loss of Rs 156 crore to PCB.
Subsequently, Pakistan hoped that Australia would beat India in the semi -finals, which would be played in Pakistan and PCB would get some relief. But, India also broke this hope and due to the final being in Dubai, PCB suffered a loss of Rs 39 crore. In this way, Pakistan received a shock of Rs 195 crore.
Pakistan had already suffered a big loss due to India not playing, but the rain has completed the rain. Three matches of the tournament were washed away in the rain, causing PCB to return the ticket money and hit crores of rupees.
PCB made preparations on a large scale for the Champions Trophy. According to reports, Pakistan had spent around Rs 180 crore to upgrade stadiums in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. The board hoped that the final would be in Pakistan, which would cost this expenses, but India’s performance also razed its hope.
