Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made a brilliant debut by defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, but after that they lost in two consecutive matches, causing their IPL 2025 points to fall into the table to seventh place. The chasing CSK, captained by Ruturaj, is facing difficulties. Their problems are increasing due to lack of aggression in the team’s batting lineup.
Criticism in conversation
After the CSK’s previous defeat, the team’s strategy and criticism on playing XI have increased. Some analysts and supporters have questioned the team’s sports plan. However, coach Stephen Fleming has defended the team’s approach, but now it seems that the team needs to make some changes in their strategy and team combination.
Chris Srikanth’s suggestion
Chris Srikanth, a member of India’s 1983 World Cup winning team, has suggested some important changes to CSK. Changing the team, he advised to bring Devon Conway on opening. Apart from this, Srikanth spoke of keeping Ravichandran Ashwin in the team, but also suggested him not to bowl during the powerplay.
Srikanth said on his YouTube channel, “Conway should be replaced by Jamie Overton and Ashwin should protect from bowling in Powerplay. Ashwin can be effective between 7-18 overs. Also, 10 overs can be used well in association with Jadeja and Noor Ahmed.”
CSK weakness in the middle order
Apart from this, Srikanth also said that Shivam Dubey should be included not only as an impact player but in the entire team. There is a lack of deep hitting in the middle order of CSK, and even MS Dhoni has failed to contribute significantly to the team in his batting.
Need to change the team
According to Srikanth, Chennai should include Shivam Dubey in the team and he should be fully given a place in XI, while Mukesh Chaudhary should also bring back to the playing XI. He said, “I think Shivam Dubey should find a place in playing XI and Andre Siddharth should be taken as an impact player. Mukesh Chaudhary is also a good option, which has done well for CSK.”
Chennai Super Kings next match
After losing to Rajasthan, CSK has stepped in seventh position. Their next match is going to be held from Delhi Capitals (DC) at Chepock Stadium on 5 April, where CSK is expected to change its strategy.
