RCB did not buy any big player in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one such IPL franchise which has a high fan following on social media. RCB gets full support from the fans every season, but till date this franchise has not been able to win the IPL trophy. RCB surprises the fans in every auction. This time also something similar was seen in the mega auction. After the mega auction, the former Indian cricketer has raised questions on the strategy of RCB.
Team India’s former Test opener and current cricket commentator Aakash Chopra has raised questions on the strategy adopted by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Aakash Chopra has said that you had a chance to buy big Indian cricketers, but you did not go with them. This time too there is no high-profile Indian batsman with Virat Kohli.
Aakash Chopra wrote a special thing for RCB on X
Former cricketer Aakash Chopra wrote in his ex-post, “One thing that RCB never wants to change. That is, there is no high-profile Indian batsman in the team except Virat. Often you don’t get to buy someone in an auction and that’s understandable, but this time they had 4 options to choose from. Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan and they had the money to buy one of them, but they didn’t do it.”
One thing #RCB does not want to change ever—
No high-profile Indian batsman in the team except Virat.
Often you can’t get any in the auction and that’s understandable…but this time they had 4 options to choose from. Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KLR and Ishan. And had the money to buy 1.…— Aakash Chopra (@cricketaakash) November 26, 2024
RCB did not bid on Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan in the IPL 2025 mega auction, even though they could have fit in their team. However, he bid on Rishabh Pant but did not lift his pedal after just Rs 11 crore. He did something similar for his former player KL Rahul.
RCB made the last bid for Rahul up to Rs 10.5 crores. He was sold for Rs 14 crore. If RCB had bought him for more than Rs 14 crore then it would be a big deal for RCB. He didn’t even go for his former fast bowler Mohammed Siraj and didn’t use the RTM card for Will Jacques. They bought Bhuvneshwar Kumar later. His decision surprised everyone.
