Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recently taken a major decision and removed Team India’s Assistant Coach Abhishek Nair, Fielding Coach T Dilip and Strength and Conditioning Coach Soham Desai from their posts. This decision has been taken after Team India’s poor performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in 2024-25.
The tenure of the coaching staff was till June
Nair, Dilip and Desai’s term was fixed till June 2025, but the BCCI has excluded them ahead of time. This means that Team India will go without these coaches on the tour of England.
Possible return of Nair in KKR
According to Cricbuz report, Abhishek Nair’s chances of returning to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) seems quite strong. KKR management has always appreciated his contribution and his positive impact in the team atmosphere.
Nair’s old role in KKR
Nair has previously played a double role in KKR. On the one hand, he has been the head of the KKR Academy, on the other hand, he has also played the role of assistant coach of the senior team. Apart from this, Nair has also given personally training to many players, including the name of Team India captain Rohit Sharma.
KL Rahul also benefited
After the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Indian wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul also took training from Abhishek Nair to prepare himself for IPL 2025. The effect of this hard work is clearly visible in his performance and he has played the best innings so far for Delhi Capitals. Appointment of new coaches fixed
Adrian Le Rukes is being brought as Team India’s new strength and conditioning coach, while Ryan Ten Doeshet will now take over the responsibility of the fielding coach. There will be no direct option for Nair’s post, but batting coach Sitanshu Kotak will now help the head coach Gautam Gambhir more.
