Delhi: In the final of the 2024 Abu Dhabi T10 tournament played at Zayed Cricket Stadium, Deccan Gladiators defeated Morrisville Samp Army by 8 wickets to win the title for the third time. Chasing the target of 105 runs, the Gladiators performed brilliantly and won with three overs to spare.
Cadmore and Puran gave a great start
For Deccan Gladiators, opening batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore showed aggressive behavior from the beginning. He started the chase by hitting four fours in the first over. Captain Nicholas Pooran also soon joined in the rain of runs. Puran scored 20 runs in the over of Pakistan spinner Imad Wasim and the team completed 50 runs in just three overs.
However, Puran was dismissed by fast bowler Isuru Udana for 28 runs in 10 balls, but Cadmore continued his stormy batting and completed his half-century and gave the team an easy victory.
Samp Army’s weak start
Batting first, Morrisville Samp Army got off to a bad start. The team lost wickets at regular intervals and at one point their score was 81/5, but Afghanistan’s Karim Jannat scored 16 runs in 8 balls in the last overs, helping the team score 104/7 in 10 overs. Faf du Plessis scored the highest score of 34 runs, while wicketkeeper batsman Andries Gaus added 21 runs.
On behalf of Deccan Gladiators, England’s fast bowler Richard Gleeson bowled brilliantly and took 2 wickets in 2 overs. With this victory, Deccan Gladiators won the Abu Dhabi T10 League title for the third time.
