Delhi: In the final of IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs to win the title for the first time. After this victory, a special program was organized to honor the players at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. But this celebration turned into mourning when a huge crowd caused a stampede outside the stadium.
Accident occurred in Chinnaswamy Stadium
The stadium had a capacity of only 35,000 people, but more than 2 lakh people had gathered on this occasion. The administration failed to handle the crowd and there was chaos. 11 people lost their lives in the stampede and around 50 people were injured. In some videos, it was seen that a policeman is delivering the injured to the ambulance, while on the other hand people were seen lying unconscious on the ground.
De Villiers and other players expressed grief
Former South Africa and RCB star player AB de Villiers expressed deep grief over the incident. He wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “My condolences and prayers are with all those who have been influenced by this tragic incident of Chinnaswamy Stadium.”

The program was stopped in the middle
As soon as this sad news was received, the organizers finished the honor ceremony in just 20 minutes. The program included the entire team including RCB captain Rajat Patidar, Virat Kohli, coach Andy Flower and Mentor Dinesh Karthik.
RCB released condolence message
The RCB franchise also issued an official statement on this tragic accident. He expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased and told that as soon as he came to know about the incident, he immediately reduced the program.
