Delhi: Former Indian cricketer Kedar Jadhav is now going to step into the field of politics. According to information received by the Times of India, 40 -year -old Jadhav will join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the BJP headquarters in Marine Drive on Tuesday, which will begin his political career. Jadhav will join the party in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
However, there has been no official confirmation from the party or Jadhav so far, but a reliable source keeping an eye on the incident has confirmed this news.
Born on 26 March 1985 in Pune, Maharashtra, Kedar Jadhav has been a magnificent middle order batsman. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka for India in 2014 and scored 1389 runs in 73 ODIs at an average of 42.09. Apart from this, he also took 27 wickets at an economy rate of 5.15 with off -spin bowling.
Although he played several important innings for India, he is most remembered for his 120 -run innings off 76 balls played against England in Pune ODI in 2017. In that match, India had lost 4 wickets for 63 runs in the 12th over, but Jadhav, along with captain Virat Kohli, a historic partnership of 200 runs helped India achieve the target of 351 runs and gave a memorable victory.
Jadhav has been the pillar of the domestic team of Maharashtra. In the 2013-14 Ranji Trophy season, he scored 1223 runs at an average of 87.35, which included six centuries, and he got a place in the Indian team due to this performance.
Kedar represented four teams in the IPL – Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Apart from this, he also played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2010.
On 3 June 2024, Kedar Jadhav officially announced his retirement from all formats of cricket, which ended his nearly 17 years long career (2009 to 2024).
