Delhi: New Zealand’s star cricketer Kane Williamson was not selected by any team in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 draft. This PSL draft took place in Lahore on Monday (January 13). Williamson was placed in the platinum category, but he did not find any buyer.

The only unsold player in the platinum category

The remaining 10 players from the Platinum category were selected by the teams, but Kane Williamson was ignored. At the same time, other New Zealand players like Mark Chapman, Adam Milne, Michael Bracewell and Finn Allen were bought by the teams.

It is noteworthy that Kane Williamson had earlier remained without a buyer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction. His base price in the auction held in November 2024 was Rs 2 crore, but no franchise showed interest in him. Kane Williamson played only two matches for Gujarat Titans in the 2024 season.

Unsold in IPL 2025

After going unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, Kane Williamson had registered his name for the PSL 2025 draft. However, he has never participated in PSL till now. Kane Williamson has scored 2575 runs in 93 T20 International matches, his average is 33.44 and strike rate is 123.08. It is believed that his strike rate in T20 could be the reason for his not being sold in PSL and IPL.

Had a special relationship with Virat

Under the captaincy of Williamson, the New Zealand team has defeated the Indian team under the captaincy of Virat. In this, the Kiwi team had earlier defeated India in the semi-finals of the 2019 World Cup and the WTC final 2021.
