Delhi: The cricket team of South Africa is on the verge of creating history. Chasing the target of 282 runs against Australia in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2025, Protiaz has lost only 2 wickets for 213 runs till the end of the third day. Now the team needs only 69 runs to win.
Opener Aidan Markram, who played the most important role in bringing the team to this strong position, played a brilliant innings of 102 runs. During this inning, he hit 11 fours and completed his eighth Test century.
At the other end, captain Temba Bawuma is standing for 65 runs and the two together have brought South Africa very close to the first ICC Trophy after 27 years.
South Africa’s batting coach Ashwell Prince praised Markram, saying, “We always knew that he is a player of big opportunities. He has made a small, but significant improvement in his technique. In recent times he used to try to kill the ball by taking his hand away from his body, but this improvement became easy after video analysis.”
Prince also credited the team’s head coach Shukri Konrad. He said, “Shukri’s greatest strength is his restraint, as soon as Aidan and Temba returned to the dressing room, he said that keep everything normal-the same routine, the same warm-up. We know what is at stake, but we have to be calm.”
Now the whole country is waiting for the fourth day by stopping breath, where Protiaz has to score only 69 runs and has to win a historic victory. Will South Africa create new history in the cricket world by finishing 27 years of drought?
