Delhi: After the new guidelines of BCCI came, it became mandatory for all the players of Team India to play domestic cricket. Under this, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal came to represent their respective teams in the first match of the second phase of Ranji Trophy on 23 January. But, all these star players of the Indian team proved to be flops.

Disappointing return of captain Rohit

Rohit Sharma returned to Ranji Trophy after almost 10 years, but his performance with the bat was disappointing. In the Elite Group A match between Mumbai and Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian captain returned to the pavilion after scoring only 3 runs in 19 balls. Earlier in the year 2015, he had played a Ranji Trophy match against UP, in which he played a century.

Jaiswal-Gil also failed

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who came to open with Rohit, also could not last long. Jaiswal, who had opened his account by hitting a brilliant cut for a four on the second ball of the match, instead of taking a step forward, lagged behind and was trapped LBW after scoring 4 runs in 8 balls.

On the other hand, in the match between Karnataka and Punjab at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, India’s number 3 batsman Shubman Gill also could not live up to the expectations. Gill also got out after scoring just 4 runs.

Rishabh-Shreyas-Dubey’s condition is bad

Rishabh Pant also flopped while playing for Delhi against Saurashtra in Rajkot. He was out after scoring 1 run in just 10 balls.

From Mumbai side, Shreyas Iyer gave hope by hitting a six in the beginning, but he also became the victim of Umar Nazir Mir and was out on 11 runs.

Also, young batsman Shivam Dubey was also seen following the same path and returned without opening the account.
