Delhi: Between IPL 2025, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) veteran Mahendra Singh Dhoni has said a lot about his retirement. During the match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on 5 April, when Dhoni’s parents reached the stadium to see him, the retirement speculation intensified. But Dhoni made it clear in a podcast that he will not decide the retirement, his body.
In this podcast already recorded, Dhoni said, “I am playing IPL right now. I think one by one every year. By the end of the IPL, I will be 44 age, then I will have 10 months to think whether to play further or not. But the decision is not mine, the body is.”
Recently, in the match against Delhi, Dhoni came for batting in the 11th over and scored an unbeaten 30 in 26 balls. He hit just one four and a six and lost the team by 25 runs.
CSK coach Stephen Fleming also said about Dhoni’s retirement, “It is not my job to decide when I retire. I am just enjoying working with him.”

So far, Dhoni has scored 76 runs in four innings and has been dismissed only once. He scored an unbeaten innings of 30 runs in 16 balls against RCB. However, he also had to face criticism for batting at number 9.
Prior to IPL 2025, Dhoni had said, “I just want to enjoy cricket, just as I used to do in childhood. When he used to play in the colony at 4 o’clock, he used to play cricket only. Now I want to enjoy the game with the same innocence, although it is not easy to do so.”
