Delhi: ICC T20 World Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma, who has been struggling with poor form recently, has received support from Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar. On Saturday, Farhan praised Rohit’s selfless spirit on Instagram and said that he gave priority to the team more than his personal form. Farhan has written a long note with a picture of Rohit.
In the caption, Farhan wrote, “This is important to say. This boy has done a lot for Indian cricket. He has successfully captained the team and showcased his talent with the bat. Many great players in the game have struggled for form. But, unfortunately, at such a time, instead of recognizing his selflessness, people are making him a victim of criticism.”
Farhan further wrote, “Rohit, you are a true superstar. You know what you are doing and I am sure negativity will not overpower you. You put the team above yourself, which only a great captain can do.”
Recently, Rohit’s captaincy is being criticized in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, especially his performance with the bat has been weak. India had won in the first match of the series under the captaincy of Jasprit Bumrah, but after this the team’s performance has declined under the captaincy of Rohit.
Rohit, who made India the T20 World Cup winner and ODI World Cup runner-up in June 2024, has failed to find his rhythm in the ongoing Test series.
Rohit has been rested for the last test and the captaincy is again in the hands of Bumrah. India scored 185 runs in the first innings, but the bowlers made a comeback in the match by restricting Australia to 181 runs. In the second innings, India has scored 141 runs for 6 wickets with a lead of 145 runs. Rishabh Pant (61 runs) has been the top scorer so far.
