Delhi: In a match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), Ravichandran Ashwin was overwhelmed to express his displeasure over the umpire’s decision. In the match played at Coimbatore between Dindigul Dragons and Tiruppur Tamizhans on Sunday, 8 June, Ashwin was given LBW out, which he expressed anger.

Controversy on ball outside the pitch

The incident happened when Ashwin was playing 18 runs in 11 balls. A ball of bowler Sai Kishore hit his pad, which was called out by the umpire. But Ashwin believed that the ball was picked outside the leg stump, so he was not out.

Dragons’ team had already used DRS on two wide balls, so Ashwin did not have a chance to challenge the umpire’s decision. After being dismissed, Ashwin angrily bathed his pad and also threw the gloves in anger.

Video viral on social media

The video of this incident is becoming very viral on social media, in which Ashwin can be seen arguing with the umpire and throwing his gear in anger. He was the captain of Dindigul Dragons in the match.

Punishment and fine

There was a hearing against Ashwin after the match. A TNPL official told Cricbuzz that he was fined 10 percent for disagreeing with the umpire and 20 percent for misuse of equipment, a total of 30 percent match fees. Ashwin accepted his mistake and accepted the sentence.

Dragons’ necklace

After Ashwin’s dismissal, Dindigul dragons staggered and the entire team was reduced to only 94 runs. Tiruppur Tamizhans achieved this target by losing just one wicket and with 49 balls left.
