Delhi: Ashwin’s autobiography was released in July this year, which is about five months before he announced his retirement from international cricket. He said goodbye to cricket during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The veteran spinner discussed his book with former England captain Michael Atherton in a Sky Sports podcast. Ashwin said that he wants people to know him as a human being, because this identity often gets hidden while playing cricket.

Ashwin doesn’t have fun like Kohli
Ashwin said that the biggest misconception about him is that people think that he is very serious and he does not enjoy cricket as much as Virat Kohli does.
The Indian spinner said, “I wanted people to know me in my true form, because many times it happens that Ashwin takes a wicket and Virat Kohli starts jumping with excitement. People think that Ashwin is very serious and Virat is having all the fun. Someone also asked me why I am always so serious? My answer was that I am not serious, but when I have to bowl to win the match, my mind remains focused on that.”
You won’t see me sending kisses to my wife
Ashwin, who took 37 five-wicket hauls, said he never celebrated his milestones in a big way. He told that he never points the bat at his wife sitting in the stands and sends a kiss.
The player who has won the most “Player of the Series” awards in Indian Test cricket said, “When I take five wickets, you will not see me sending a kiss to my wife, who is sitting in the dressing room or hospitality box. I felt that who I am is sometimes hidden by my achievements. That is why I have tried to bring it before everyone through my book.”
