Delhi: Indian cricket veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin suddenly retired from international cricket in Australia between the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He ended his career as the second highest wicket -taking bowler in Test cricket. He has 537 wickets in Test cricket and 765 wickets in all formats.
Ashwin played his 100th Test against England in February 2024 in Dharamshala, in which he took 9 wickets. On this special occasion, the BCCI organized a special ceremony, where he was given a memorable gift and he also gave a passionate speech in front of his team.
Dhoni invited Dhoni in 100th Test
Recently, during an event in Chennai, Ashwin revealed that he wanted to retire only after the Dharamshala Test and on this occasion he had also invited former Indian captain and legend MS Dhoni of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, Dhoni could not come to Dharamshala.
Ashwin thanked Dhoni and said, “I had called MS Dhoni in his 100th Test so that he gives me the Manto. I wanted it to be my last Test. But he could not come. However, I did not know that he would give me a gift of return to CSK. This is a bigger gift. So, thanks for this, MS! I am very happy to come back here. “
He further said, “The most important thing is that I have returned as a successful player in CSK, but as a person who has lived the whole journey and now wants to enjoy the same again. it’s a wonderful place.”
Ashwin will now be seen playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The team bought him in the mega auction for Rs 9.75 crore. CSK will play its first match against Mumbai Indians on 23 March at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
