Delhi: The third match of the 5-match Test series between Australia and India is being played at the Gabba ground in Brisbane from 14 December (Saturday). Till now, rain had not caused any hindrance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, but in the third Test, rain finally made its presence felt. Play could not start due to continuous rain, and the first day’s play had to be ended early.

Situation before lunch break
Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first. Only 13.2 overs of play were possible in the first session, in which Australia scored 28 runs without any loss. Usman Khawaja (19* runs, 47 balls) and Nathan McSweeney (4* runs, 33 balls) batted with restraint. Indian bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep bowled hard, but could not take any wicket. Akash Deep gave only 2 runs in 3.2 overs. Due to rain the play had to end prematurely in the first session.

Team India has made two changes in this match. Ravindra Jadeja has been included in place of Ravichandran Ashwin, while Akash Deep has got a chance in place of Harshit Rana. At the same time, Australia has included Josh Hazlewood in its team in place of Scott Boland. This match is important for both the teams, because the series is currently tied at 1-1.
