Delhi: The fourth Test match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia will be played on the historic ground of Melbourne from 26th December. After three matches of the series, both the teams are currently tied at 1-1, where India won the first test by 295 runs, while Australia registered a resounding victory in the second test by 10 wickets. The third match was a draw due to rain. Now there is a possibility of a big change in Team India before the fourth Test, because veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has taken retirement from international cricket and Tanush Kotian has been included in the team in his place.
The schedule of the World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle has been revealed, India will play series against these 6 teams
Trust on Rahul and Jaiswal for opening
In the last three Test matches, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal took the lead as the opening pair of Team India. Yashasvi played a brilliant inning of 161 runs in the first test, but his performance in the next two matches was disappointing. On the other hand, KL Rahul scored 84 runs in the third test. Both these players are expected to start the innings once again.
Eyes on Virat and Shubman in middle order
The team management may give another chance to Shubman Gill, who is struggling with poor form at number three, in the fourth test. Virat Kohli will play at number four and his form will be important for the team. If Virat continues, the challenge for Australia’s bowlers may increase. The responsibility of wicketkeeping in the fourth test will be in the hands of Rishabh Pant. At the same time, captain Rohit Sharma can continue playing at number six.
Bumrah’s magic in fast bowling attack
Jasprit Bumrah has performed brilliantly so far in this series. He took 8 wickets in the first test and 9 wickets in the third test. To support him, famous Krishna and Akash Deep may get a chance in the team. Mohammad Siraj’s performance has been average, due to which he may have to sit out.
Important contribution of all-rounders
Whereas, Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Reddy will be seen in the role of all-rounders. Their performance will provide balance to the team.
Team India’s probable playing eleven for the fourth test
The players included in the team led by captain Rohit Sharma are: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Prasidh Krishna, Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep.
It is also possible that in the fourth test, Dhruv Jurel may be included in the playing eleven instead of Akashdeep or Krishna.
Now it has to be seen with what strategy Team India comes on the field in this important match.
