Delhi: The second day of the last Test match being played between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground was also full of excitement. After 11 wickets fell on the first day, the dominance of the bowlers was seen on the second day also, where a total of 15 wickets fell.
Dominance of Indian bowlers
Australia’s first innings was reduced to 181 runs. The Indian bowlers performed brilliantly, although Jasprit Bumrah bowled only 10 overs due to fitness problem, and took one wicket on the second day. Prasidh Krishna (3 wickets) and Nitish Reddy (2 wickets), who seemed out of rhythm in the beginning, improved their line-length and put Australia on the backfoot. For the host team, debutant Webster batted brilliantly and scored a half-century and took the team to a respectable score.
The Indian team got a slight lead of 4 runs in the first innings. However, concerns over Bumrah’s fitness created tension in the Indian camp as he was sent for scans after lunch.
In the second innings, the Indian openers made a fast start, but Scott Boland came and changed the course of the game. India’s score fell from 42/1 to 78/4. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant batted aggressively and scored an inning of 61 runs in just 33 balls. His innings helped India overcome the difficult situation and gain a lead of 145 runs.
