Bad start to the Indian innings
KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal started the innings, but Jaiswal could not even open his account in his first Test match in Australia and was out on the ball of Mitchell Starc. After this, Devdutt Padikkal also returned to the pavilion without scoring any runs. After the initial shock, Virat Kohli came to the crease to support KL Rahul.
Kohli’s form becomes a matter of concern
Kohli tried to play cautiously and scored five runs, but while trying to play Josh Hazlewood’s short pitch ball, he was caught out in the slip. Usman Khawaja gave a big blow to Team India by taking his catch. This was the 10th time that Hazlewood dismissed Kohli in international cricket.
With this figure, Hazlewood has become the Australian bowler who has dismissed Kohli the most number of times. Before him, James Anderson and Moeen Ali had also dismissed Kohli 10 times each.
Bowlers who have dismissed Kohli the most number of times in international cricket:
- 11 times: Tim Southee
- 10 times: Josh Hazlewood*, James Anderson, Moeen Ali
Among the Australian bowlers, Kohli has been dismissed the most number of times:

Kohli’s batting is continuously flopping
Virat Kohli has not been able to even touch the 20-run mark in Test cricket for five consecutive innings. His last five scores have been 5, 1, 4, 17 and 1 respectively. This is the first time in the last 7 years that Kohli is seen in such poor form.
