Delhi: On the first day of the fourth Test match being played between India and Australia in Melbourne, there was a heated exchange of words on the field between Virat Kohli and Australian opener Sam Constance. Kohli collided with the shoulder, which led to a controversy. There was a lot of discussion on this incident both in the field and on social media.

Australian media called Kohli a ‘clown’

ICC match referee Andy Pycroft, while ruling on the matter, fined Kohli 20% of his match fee and one demerit point. However, the Australian media did not seem satisfied with this decision. He insulted Kohli with words like ‘clown’ (joker) and ‘suk’ (crying or weak).

Australian newspaper ‘The West Australian’ made fun of Kohli by calling him ‘Clown Kohli’ in its headline. After this incident went viral on social media, some people demanded that Kohli be banned for at least one match.

However, this is the same Australian media which had published a front page article before the start of the series calling Kohli the GOAT.

Great debut of Sam Constas

This debut match of 19 year old Sam Constas was very popular. He made headlines by scoring 34 out of 60 against Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Sam later gave a statement on the collision and said, “I was fixing my gloves and perhaps by mistake Kohli collided with me. “It’s just part of the game and it happens because of the stress on the field.”
