Delhi: Jasprit Bumrah achieved a special achievement on the first day of the second Test being played at the Oval ground in Adelaide. Bumrah not only gave India initial success by dismissing Usman Khawaja, but also became the first Indian bowler to take 50 wickets in the year 2024. He has also become the bowler who has taken the most Test wickets this year. He took 11 matches to complete his half-century of wickets.

After Bumrah, the names of Ravichandran Ashwin (46 wickets), England’s Shoaib Bashir (45 wickets), and Ravindra Jadeja (44 wickets) are included in this list.
However, the performance of the Indian batsmen was very disappointing. Due to the lethal bowling of left arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc, Australia restricted India to just 180 runs in 44.1 overs. Starc recorded impressive figures of 6-48, which is the 15th five-wicket haul of his Test career.
For India, Nitish Reddy scored 42, KL Rahul scored 37 and Shubman Gill scored 31 runs. Rahul and Gill added 69 runs for the second wicket, but Starc made a brilliant comeback and took the wickets of Rahul and Virat Kohli. Boland got Gill out LBW and also sent Rohit Sharma to the pavilion.
Nitish Reddy hit some brilliant shots against Starc and Boland, but could not save the Indian innings. Starc ended the Indian innings by dismissing Reddy at mid-off. Australia tightened its grip on the match by dominating the bowling on the first day.
