Delhi: Mohammed Shami is once again under the shadow of injury. Shami complained of lower back pain during the match between Bengal and Madhya Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) on Friday. This incident happened when Bengal had to save 22 runs and Shami was bowling with full strength.
AUS vs IND: Australia got a shock, the bowler who gave 36 all outs to India was out of the team.
Stir due to back pain
During the match, Shami was seen undergoing treatment on the field, due to which there was some concern in the Bengal camp for some time. However, after first aid, Shami completed his over. His injury has once again raised questions about his fitness level, especially when he is returning to cricket after a long break of almost a year.
Out of international cricket for a long time
Shami has been away from international cricket for the last one year. He could not play important Test series against South Africa, England and New Zealand due to ankle injury and surgery. His absence was a big challenge for the Indian fast bowling attack.
However, Shami had performed brilliantly against Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy by taking 7 wickets. After this, he returned to the white ball format in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he tried to show his old rhythm.
Expecting a comeback in Border-Gavaskar Trophy?
Given Shami’s recent performance, there were speculations that he might return to the Indian Test team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. But, the latest injury has raised concerns about his fitness and selection.
Now it will be interesting to see how soon Shami is able to get fit and return to the field and whether he will be able to regain his place in the Indian team.
