Delhi: The Indian team will face Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. This prestigious series will start from 22nd November at Optus Stadium in Perth. There is not much time left for the first match of the series, and meanwhile the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a major change in the squad of Team India.

AUS vs IND: Bumrah called himself a different captain from Rohit-Virat

Indian team’s regular captain Rohit Sharma will not play in the first test, while Shubman Gill is also unavailable due to injury. In such a situation, young batsman Devdutt Padikkal has been included in Team India. Padikkal, who was already a part of the India A team in Australia, can now be a part of the playing eleven in the Perth Test. BCCI has confirmed this change on social media.

Devdutt Padikkal has good experience of playing in the top order. He made his Test debut in the series against England this year, where he played an inning of 65 runs. Recently, in the four-day matches against Australia-A, he played innings of 36, 88, 26 and 1 run. He has scored 2677 runs in first class cricket at an average of 42.49, which includes 6 centuries and 17 half-centuries.
