Delhi: When it comes to Test cricket, the first thing that comes to mind is the red ball, because Test matches are usually played with the red ball. However, in the last few years, the trend of pink ball has increased, which is especially used in day-night formats. The pink ball can be easily seen even in floodlight, and its purpose is to bring more spectators to the stadium.

Although, not many matches have been played with pink ball till now, but it has gained its popularity. In this article we will tell you when the first pink ball test was played in international cricket and what is India’s record with this ball.

Firstly, the Pink Ball Test was held on 27 November 2015. The match was played between Australia and New Zealand at the Adelaide Oval, and was the first day-night pink ball Test. Australia won this historic match by 3 wickets. After this, the second Pink Ball Test was played between West Indies and Pakistan in 2016. India played its first test with pink ball in 2019 against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, in which Team India won by an innings and 46 runs.

India’s record in pink ball test

India has played four pink ball test matches so far, out of which it has won three matches at home. Outside, India played its first pink ball test in Australia, in which it had to face a big defeat. In this match, the Indian team was all out for just 36 runs in the second innings.
