Delhi: On the second day of the fifth and final Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah had to leave the field due to injury. It is not yet known what injury Bumrah has suffered, but the news is that he was taken to the hospital for a scan along with the team doctor.

What happened to Bumrah?

Just before lunch on Saturday, Bumrah went out of the field for the first time. After the lunch break, he bowled one over, but left the field again. Substitute fielder Abhimanyu Easwaran took the field in his place.

Before leaving the field, Bumrah was seen talking to Virat Kohli, in which he might have expressed his problem. After this Kohli took over the responsibility of captaincy and immediately made changes in the bowling. Young bowlers Prasidh Krishna and Nitish Kumar Reddy took important wickets and bowled out Australia for 181 runs, bringing them to the backfoot.

Big impact of injury on test

Bumrah’s injury can have a big impact on the outcome of the Test and series. He is not only India’s leading bowler, but was also captaining in this Test, as regular captain Rohit Sharma had withdrawn from the match due to poor form. Now it remains to be seen whether Bumrah will be able to bowl in the second innings or not.

Star Sports anchor Mayanti Langer informed during the tea break that perhaps this is Bumrah’s old back injury, for which he had already undergone an operation.
