Delhi: Following the annual update made by the ICC on Friday, women players of Australia and New Zealand have strengthened their position in the women’s T20I team rankings. Australia has retained its grip on the number 1 rankings with 299 rating points and has now increased its lead on England (279 points) from 18 points to 20.
The rankings of the top eight teams have not changed any location, but the current ICC Women’s T20 World Cup winner New Zealand has gained two rating points and now they are just seven points behind India (260), who are third with 253 points.
South Africa (243), West Indies (240), Sri Lanka (228) and Pakistan (220) are other teams in the top eight respectively.
Ireland climbed up one place and left Bangladesh behind and has come to the ninth place. Asian team Thailand has climbed up two places to 11th position, while Sierra Leone (34th) and Kuwait (37th) have jumped three-three places by securing seven rating points.
At the same time, Mexico, Czechia, Oman and Ghana have been excluded from the ranking, as these teams have not played at least eight T20Is since May 2022.
