Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 resumed from May 17, which was stopped for some time due to tension on the Indo-Pakistan border. After this announcement, Cricket Australia (CA) issued a statement on May 13, saying that the decision to return the Australian players has been completely left to them when the IPL resumed.
Some Australian players have been mentally affected by this incident. In such a situation, Cricket Australia has said that they will not pressurize anyone to return to India.
CA said in its statement, “Cricket Australia will respect the decision of the players, whether they return to India or not. For the players who will participate in the remaining matches of IPL, we will also work on the preparation of the World Test Championship (WTC) final.”
The CA also told that they are in touch with the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) and the Australian government regarding security.
Which players are in the WTC final team?
Australia’s WTC 2025 final team is playing in IPL 2025:
- Mitchell Starc (Delhi Capitals)
- Josh English (Punjab Kings)
- Josh Hazlewood (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
- Pat Cummins and Travis Head (Sunrisers Hyderabad)
Hazelwood may not return due to injury, as they have a discomfort in the shoulder. At the same time, according to the Australian media, Stark’s manager has said that he too cannot return to India for the remaining matches of the tournament.
SRH players will play their last match on 25 May, which will give them enough time to prepare for the WTC final (from June 3). SRH has already been out of the playoff race.
