Meanwhile, former Australia captain Michael Clarke has supported Rohit and said that he should lead the team on the tour of England.
Michael Clarke, who won the World Cup to Australia in 2015, expressed his opinion on Rohit’s Test future in the show ‘Backstage with Boria’. Clarke said, “In Australia, Rohit took decisions in the interest of the team. He saw that the openers performed well in Perth, so they did not change their batting position. The circumstances there were difficult to bat, the ball was getting seam, which is more difficult than the swing. However, he gave priority to the team.”
He further said, “As a captain, you do not want to take players with a very bad form in the team, but need a player who is full of confidence. Rohit took a difficult decision, but this does not mean that his journey is over. I think he should go on a tour of England and take command of the team. He can perform well there.”
Clarke believes that Rohit still has the ability to perform brilliantly in all three formats. He said, “I think Rohit can still score a lot of runs in all three formats. He is one of the best white ball cricketers till now and India’s team looks stronger.”
