Delhi: Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) defeated Rajasthan Royals by two runs in a thrilling manner in the match played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday thanks to the best bowling of Lucknow fast bowler Avesh Khan. Batting first, Lucknow scored 180 runs for 5 wickets. In response, Rajasthan’s team could score 178 runs after losing 5 wickets in 20 overs and the match lost by just 2 runs.
When asked about his injury after the match, he said, “Initially felt that the hand was broken, because the ball was directly on the bone. The pain was so much that I could not even celebrate the celebration properly. But now the hand is fine.”
Avesh jokingly said, “I don’t want to be a Mitchell Starc, I just want to be a good Avesh Khan.” He said that his strength is a yorker ball and whenever he puts it with the right mindset, it is well exercised.
Talking on his bowling strategy, he said, “I do not bowl by looking at the scoreboard, my focus is just on my line-length and plan. I had decided that I did not have to give a boundary in the first three balls. This will increase the pressure on the batsman.”
On an easy catch left by Miller, Avesh said, “When the ball went into the air, I was sure that the catch would be caught. But when he fell and the opposition team needed only 4 runs, it was a little nervous. It seemed that no longer would be shouted.”
He told that on that occasion, he kept himself calm and decided that the next ball was to be put on the middle and leg stump. “I think of the team, I had only one purpose, winning the match.”
Avesh said that a big tournament like IPL is special for every player and he will try to bowl similar in the rest of the matches.
