Delhi: Young fast bowler Nahid Rana is among the three players of the Bangladeshi team to be out of Pakistan tour. The tour is going to start at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore next week.
According to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cricket operations chairman Najmul Abedin Faheem, Nahid has decided to withdraw from the tour possibly due to the difficult situation that he had to face while trying to leave Pakistan earlier this month. This situation arose due to tension on the Indo-Pakistan border.
Nahid Rana was associated with the Peshawar Zalmi team when the players were called back during PSL 2025. His national team partner, Rishad Hussain, was also a part of the Peshawar franchise, but he will visit Pakistan with the Bangladesh team.
Faheem said that even two members of the coaching staff are not ready to go to Pakistan. Faheem said, “Nahid Rana and Rishad have recently suffered, after that, if they are scared, they cannot be blamed. Perhaps this is why Rana decided to withdraw from the tour. Our fielding coaches James (Payment) and Trainer Nathan (Keli) are not going to go.
He further said, “Some other players also hesitated. But, when he saw that the rest of the players were going, they felt that it would not be difficult to go and they also changed their first opinion.”
Bangladesh’s Pakistan tour will be of three T20 international matches. The series will begin on May 28, while the next two matches will be played on 30 May and 1 June.
