Delhi: The second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is going to start again from 17 May. But, meanwhile, Delhi Capitals (DC) has come into controversy on social media. The reason is to include Bangladesh bowler Mustafizur Rahman in the team. #Boycottdelhicapitals have started trending on social media about this.
Mustafizur replaced Jake Fraser-Macgark
Actually, Delhi Capitals have included Mustafizur Rahman in the team in place of Jake Fraser-Macgark. Fraser is no longer available for the rest of the season. Under the new IPL rules, if a player was not available for the entire tournament, the team can include the temporary player.
From the point of view of cricket, this decision is fine. Mustafizur has already played in the IPL and has been a part of the Delhi team in 2022 and 2023. However, some fans did not like this decision. Especially in view of the current situation, some people are considering it as a political and sensitive issue.
Displeasure from DC on social media
As soon as Delhi Capitals informed Mustafizur in the team, many people started protesting on X and Instagram. Some said that it is not right to take Bangladesh player in the team at such a time. Some posts also mentioned the alleged behavior of Hindus in Bangladesh.
Till evening #Boycottdelhicapitals started trending. Many users tagged IPL officers and demanded attention to it.
As a proud delhiite, I can no longer stand by @Delhicapitals,
Their continued support for players from a nation with a clea anti-India stance-Including open backing of Pakistan-is Deeply disappointing. #Boycottdelhicapitals pic.twitter.com/4ZKQ11B4RD

Yes boycott 🔥🔥
Shame on Delhi Capitals!
How can they pick players from a country where Anti-India Voices are Growing and Open Support for Pakistan exists?
Is the IPL running out of true patriots?
We stand against that who stand against India.#Boycottdelhicapitals pic.twitter.com/jCCC0HXKWSE– Shiva (@Shivak81) May 14, 2025
