BCCI is now bringing strict rules in IPL 2025

BCCI has decided that in IPL 2025 The rules of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct will be implemented for all players.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has decided to increase the strictness on player discipline in the 2025 season. Therefore, now it will be mandatory to follow the rules of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct in IPL. This important decision was taken in the Governing Council (GC) meeting held on Sunday.

Under this change, players will be penalized for violations of Level 1, 2 and 3 rules as per ICC guidelines. An official of the Governing Council said,-

“ICC T20 International playing conditions will now be applicable in IPL. Earlier the league had its own separate rules, but now the ICC Code of Conduct will be fully implemented.

There were many controversies in IPL 2024

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowler Harshit Rana was found guilty of two separate Level 1 offenses during IPL 2024. These included giving a flying kiss to Mayank Agarwal of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and celebrating in a different way against Delhi Capitals.

For these undisciplined actions, Rana was fined 160% of his match fee and also suspended for one match. Similarly, Virat Kohli (RCB), Tim David (MI) and other players were also punished for Level 1 offenses during the season.

Impact of ICC rules

Now with the implementation of the International Cricket Council (ICC) code of conduct in IPL, strict penalties will be given for indiscipline. It is hoped that this will prevent the incidents that happened in the previous season. Like Harshit Rana’s flying-kiss controversy, may yield a different outcome under the new rules as decisions will be taken strictly on each incident.
