Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) that India will no longer participate in the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup and Mains Asia Cup to be held this year. This decision has come at a time when relations between India and Pakistan are quite tense. Recently, the terrorist attacks in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir and the increasing military tension between the two countries have worsened the situation.
The ACC is currently led by Mohit Naqvi, President of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Naqvi is also the minister of internal affairs of Pakistan. In such a situation, BCCI has taken this step so that Pakistan can be isolated in international cricket.

Significantly, PCB chief Naqvi took over as ACC President last month. Earlier, this responsibility was with Sri Lankan Cricket Shammi Silva, who was the acting president for some time. When BCCI Secretary Jai Shah became the chairman of ICC, this change happened.
Now with this decision of BCCI, the future of Asia Cup 2025 is also seen in the balance. Earlier this tournament was scheduled to be held in India and was to be played in T20 format, but now it can be shifted to UAE or Sri Lanka.
