Delhi: After the Pahalgam terror attack, when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was demanded to end all cricket relations with Pakistan, Board Vice President Rajiv Shukla said that India will continue to boycott the bilateral series with Pakistan in future. However, the decision to play against Pakistan in ICC tournaments comes under the jurisdiction of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

India has not played any bilateral series against Pakistan after 2012-13. Both countries are face to face in ICC events only. The latest match between them was held in February 2025, which was played in Dubai.

In fact, India refused to go to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025, making the ICC implemented the hybrid model, under which the Indian team played all their matches in Dubai.

BCCI announced – no bilateral series from Pakistan in future

Former Bengal and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player Srivats Goswami had demanded BCCI to end all cricketing relations with Pakistan. Although Rajiv Shukla did not directly name Goswami, but he clarified that India will not play any bilateral series with Pakistan in future.

Shukla told Sports Tak (up to Sports), “We are with the victims and condemn this attack, whatever the government will say, we will do the same. We do not play bilateral series with Pakistan, because this is the stand of the government, and we will not play bilaterally with Pakistan. But, ICC has to play the ICCs, then ICC has to play there. Is also aware of these conditions and will take a decision at her level. ”

On the other hand, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia strongly condemned the attack, in which at least 26 people died. He said, “The cricket world is shocked and hurt by the life of innocent people in this barbaric terror attack in Pahalgam. Condemning this cowardly attack on behalf of BCCI, we pray for deep condolences and departed spirits towards the families of the victims. We stand shoulder to shoulder in this hour of grief.”
