Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided that a special tribute will be paid to the Indian Army at the closing ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). The program will be held on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This decision has been taken after the success of Operation Sindoor, in which the Indian Army destroyed many terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).

BCCI confirmed

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia confirmed this in a conversation with Hindustan Times. He said, “Yes, the Indian Army will be honored at the closing ceremony of IPL 2025.”

According to sources, BCCI has also invited the country’s top military officers to attend the ceremony. These include Chief of Defense Staff Anil Chauhan, Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Dinesh’s Tripathi and Air Chief AP Singh.

Sources said, “We are grateful to the bravery, courage and service of the Indian Army. The closing ceremony of IPL 2025 will be dedicated to the Army to honor his hard work under Operation Sindoor.”

The performance of the army band can also be seen in this ceremony. Also, some well-known singers will also be called for this musical event.

The tournament was stopped for a week in IPL 2025

The tension on the India-Pakistan border had increased after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir during IPL 2025. 26 tourists lost their lives in this attack. After this, the tournament had to be stopped for a week. However, later the matches started again after the ceasefire. When the IPL started again, BCCI sang the national anthem before every match to thank the Indian Army. Also, the messages of ‘Thank You, Armed Forces’ were also shown on the big screen in many stadiums.

Earlier, BCCI honored the army in 2019. The army band was then called at the inauguration ceremony. Also, after the Pulwama attack, BCCI also contributed Rs 20 crore for army welfare.
