Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fast bowler Shardul Thakur has strongly criticized commentators. Shardul has not been bought by any team in the mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025), which was done last year. However, after Pesar Mohsin Khan was injured, LSG included him in his team as a replacement.
Shardul has not disappointed LSG at all. He is the second highest wicket -taking bowler in the tournament and also the most successful among the fast bowlers. Shardul also performed brilliantly in a 6 -wicket victory against Gujarat Titans (GT) at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday, April 12. Shardul took 2 wickets for 34 runs in 4 overs with the wickets of Sharfen Rutherford and Rahul Tewatia.
In a press conference, Shardul said, “I always believe that we have performed well as a bowling unit. Often there is a lot of criticism during commentary, they are strict on bowlers, but you have to understand that cricket is now going in the direction where 200+ scores are common.”
He further said, “We should get a credit that we have defended the score by batting first on two occasions. We have scored a good score, the pitch got better for batting, but we still won, once won, once by 10 runs, once in Kolkata. So it was the matter to be patient till the end, we can win and believe that we can win, give us an important wicket or give a good wicket.”
Shardul Thakur criticized commentators
He further said, “And as you said, criticism will continue, especially from commentators. It is easy to comment on someone’s bowling sitting in the studio, but they are not able to see the real situation on the field. I think they should see their figures before criticizing someone else.”
In the 6 matches played so far, Shardul has taken 11 wickets at an economy rate of 10.38. After winning against Titans, the LSG points reached the top 4 with eight points in the table and their net run rate is +0.162.
