Delhi: The Indian team started preparations at the ICC Academy ground on Sunday before the Champions Trophy 2025. During this, veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami spent a long time with bowling coach Morne Morkel. During this time, all the players from captain Rohit Sharma to the young Harshit Rana participated in the practice session.
Shami, who returned to international cricket from the series against England, was seen wearing a stretched cap on his knee. He started bowling with short run-ups. Before the batsmen came to the net, Shami was seen adjusting his length and discussed the length with the bowling coach Morkel. He bowled fiercely after the batsmen came on the net.
In the nets, Hardik Pandya and Shreyas Iyer faced other spinners including Kuldeep Yadav. During the practice, a loud shot of Pandya hit Rishabh Pant’s knee, which caused him to groan in pain. Physio Kamlesh Jain immediately treated him, while Hardik himself also came to know his position. However, the injury was not serious and Pant soon returned to bat wearing a pad.
During the practice, Virat Kohli appeared with full concentration, while Rohit Sharma appeared in a good mood after scoring a century in Cuttack against England last week. During the net practice of the main batsmen, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakraborty and Pant practiced separately with fielding coach T Dileep. Kohli was also seen joking with the team during ‘Fun Activity’.
