Delhi: Charlotte Edwards, the head coach of Mumbai Indians Women’s (Mi), has broken ties with the team. Edwards, who won the title of Women’s Premier League (WPL) twice under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, has now become the head coach of the England women’s cricket team. Because of this, he has decided to leave his franchise T20 coaching posts from Sydney Sixers as well as Hampsher and Sardan Brave.
Mumbai Indians said thanks
In a statement from Mumbai Indians, thanking Edwards, it said, “Charlotte Edwards has been a leader for whom we have great respect and appreciation in our entire Mi family. He made the team a champion 2 times in 3 years, extended the players and strengthened the MI’s legacy. We are grateful for their contribution and wish them wishes for future.”
Thank you, coach lottie, for being an inspiration and guiding us to two championships with a smile
Former England cricketer Edwards has done a great job in a coaching career. She won a total of 5 titles (Women’s Cricket Super League and the Hundred) in collaboration with Sauudran wipers and Sauudran Braves. Apart from this, she was also successful in winning the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) to Sydney Sixers.
Emotion message from Charlotte Edwards
Sharing a post on social media on 7 April, Edwards wrote, “The last few days have been very emotional. I have got love and support from so many people, for which I am grateful.”
He also thanked all the fiction teams. “People are the most special thing, and I am very lucky to have worked with such good people who have now become friends of a lifetime. Now the next challenge is the coaching of the England women’s team, which is like a dream come true for me.”
Big responsibility in England team
Charlotte Edwards has replaced John Lewis and his first mission as head coach will be a home series against West Indies in May. After this, he will also face Harmanpreet Kaur’s Indian team. England has not announced its new captain yet. Recently, England had to face a 16–0 defeat in the female Ashes in Australia, due to which the condition of the team is not good.
