Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) will implement the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct Guidelines for players from 2025. This important decision was taken in the meeting of the General Council of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

New Terms and Conditions

According to reports, penalties will now be imposed in the IPL for Level 1, 2 and 3 offenses determined by the ICC. Earlier, IPL had its own code of conduct, but now it will be as per ICC T20I rules.

Regarding this decision, a senior member of the IPL General Council said, “From now on, the penalties prescribed by ICC will be imposed on level 1, 2 and 3 offences. Earlier IPL had its own code of conduct, but now the playing conditions will be as per ICC T20I rules.

Code of conduct violation in IPL 2024

10 code of conduct violations were recorded in IPL 2024, which necessitated the implementation of strict and uniform rules.

Harshit Rana (KKR) was found guilty of two Level 1 offences, including a flying-kiss send-off to SRH’s Mayank Agarwal and an aggressive celebration against Delhi Capitals. For this he was fined 160% of his match fee and suspended for one match. Other players including Virat Kohli (RCB), Tim David (MI) were also fined for Level 1 offences.

Possible impact of ICC rules

Adoption of ICC rules is likely to result in tougher penalties for crimes. This will help in preventing such controversial celebrations and behavior in future.
