Delhi: A big news is coming before the start of IPL (IPL 2025). It is believed that the match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Eden Gardens on April 6 is likely to be postponed due to security reasons. Kolkata Police has not given security approval to the match due to Ram Navami celebrations.
In West Bengal, BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari had already announced that more than 20,000 processions would be taken out across the state on the occasion of Ram Navami, which will increase the pressure on the security system.
Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Snehashish Ganguly on Tuesday confirmed after a two -round meeting with the Kolkata Police that the officials had not agreed to the match. Ganguly said, “He has clearly stated that he cannot provide adequate security. If there is no police protection, it will be impossible to handle the crowd of 65,000 spectators.”
Discussion with BCCI continues
Cab has informed the BCCI about this, and there is still time to take a final decision. Ganguly said, “Last year too, an IPL match had to be rested on the day of Ram Navami.”
The match between KKR and LSG was about to draw huge crowds at the Eden Gardens, as both teams have great support locally. In the last season too, the match of KKR vs Rajasthan Royals (RR) was re -determined due to Ram Navami.
IPL 2025 will start from 22 March
The IPL 2025 will start on March 22 at the Eden Gardens against the KKR vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). There will be a brilliant opening ceremony of 35 minutes before this match. It is expected to perform the famous singer Shreya Ghoshal and actress Disha Patani.
