Delhi: The Australian team has suffered a big setback amid the ongoing Border Gavaskar series against India. Cricket Australia announced on Sunday, 29 December, that wicketkeeper batsman Josh Inglis has been ruled out of the series due to a calf strain. Now he will not be able to participate in further matches. Inglis was the only wicketkeeper in the team apart from Alex Carey, and his absence has become a big challenge for the team ahead of the final Test in Sydney.
Decision on Rohit Sharma’s retirement may come soon, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar reached Melbourne
However, Australia has not yet announced his replacement. It is expected that either Beau Webster or Nathan McSweeney can be included in the team as a specialist batsman. The presence of either of these two will provide Australia with options, especially if Mitchell Marsh is not available to play in the final Test. Marsh’s performance so far has been disappointing, and he has also bowled very little.
Mitchell Starc’s fitness becomes a matter of concern
Mitchell Starc’s fitness has become another problem for Australia. He bowled limitedly on the third day of the Boxing Day Test, and did not bowl at all on the fourth day. When Starc was questioned about his fitness, he assured that everything was fine. However, he felt back pain while bowling on the third day. Starc told that his bowling speed remained at 140 km per hour, which is not a matter of much concern regarding his fitness.
