Delhi: West Indies performed a feat in the Multan Test which no one expected. In the second test match, West Indies defeated Pakistan by 120 runs. The spin bowlers were completely dominant in this match. The spinners performed so well on the Multan pitch that a new world record was created.
In the first innings, West Indies team was limited to only 163 runs, but Pakistan team also could not make a big score and their first innings ended at 154 runs. After this, West Indies scored 244 runs in the second innings and gave a target of 254 runs to Pakistan. On the third day, Pakistan team was all out for just 133 runs and West Indies won the match.
Great performance by spinners
A total of 40 wickets fell in this match, out of which 35 wickets were taken by spin bowlers. Not only this, a total of 69 wickets were taken in the name of spinners in this two-match Test series, which is a new record. Earlier, in the two-match Test series played between Sri Lanka and West Indies in 2021, spinners had taken 67 wickets.
Pakistani spinners Sajid Khan and Noman Ali performed well. Noman created history by taking a hat-trick in this match and became the first spin bowler of Pakistan to take a hat-trick in Test cricket.
Great performance by Varicane
However, West Indies spinner Jomel Warrican took the maximum 19 wickets in the series. After taking 10 wickets in the first test, he also took 9 wickets in the second test. Because of his performance, he was chosen ‘Player of the Match’ and ‘Player of the Series’.
